Re-engineering an enterprise Magento site to reduce Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) on mobile.
Down from 5.4s
Down from 0.85 (Zero shifts)
Excellent performance
An enterprise wholesaler with high mobile traffic was failing Google's Core Web Vitals metrics. Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) was 5.4 seconds, and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) was 0.85 on mobile devices. The site faced a ranking penalty due to failing Google's Page Experience benchmarks.
Using WebKernelAI’s Page Speed Optimizer, we found that heavy, uncompressed banner images were blocking the initial layout paint. Additionally, dynamic client-side reviews and recommendations boxes loaded late without pre-allocated container heights, causing elements to shift downward.
We optimized LCP by converting all hero graphics to WebP formats, adding explicit width/height tags, and injecting preloading headers. To eliminate CLS, we defined fixed-height wrappers for all dynamic modules and deferred non-critical JS. LCP dropped to 1.8 seconds, moving the site into the green zone.
CLS measures how much elements move around on a page during loading. A high CLS score disrupts the user experience and is penalized by Google.
They often load dozens of external extensions and unminified script payloads that block main-thread rendering.
WebKernelAI checks for JavaScript rendering timeouts, duplicate canonical tags, redirect loops, and server vulnerability markers.
